On communicating with Dr. Lynch, the Health Officer of the Port, asking his permission to visit the shipping and explaining my object, that gentleman readily granted my request, and in addition to offeying to place every facility in my way, was also good enough to give me his personal assistance in the enquiry. On visiting the ship we found that not only had there been five cases of cholera, but we were informed that a number of the crew had been suffering from diarrhoea, and the general impression was that the outbreak was due to entrance into the cholera zone and breathing a cholera air.
